PMSP invites you to these two interactive in-person workshops (Feb 9th & 23rd) where participants will engage in critical analysis of STEM curriculum/programming with an anti-bias, anti-racist lens, and will develop the instructional strategies needed to do so. Our team has put together a two-workshop cohort for community allies looking to develop programs that validate students’ experiences and values, where they learn by connecting their everyday experiences to STEM lessons. We continue to examine practices that develop caring relationships, communicate high expectations, and create inclusive environments through effective instructional strategies.

This two-part cohort is for you if you are new to the PMSP STEM Equity Ally workshop series, and are ready to learn about interrupting microaggressions, how implicit bias shows up in STEM, and how to begin to incorporate equitable affirming instructional practices and inclusive curriculum into your program.

This cohort is also for you if you’ve attended PMSP STEM Equity Ally workshops online, and would like the opportunity to review the content in person with other educators.

If you have participated in the STEM Equity Ally series in the past, or you are ready for the next level in your personal STEM Equity work, stay tuned for another cohort opportunity in the spring of 2024. We will do a deeper dive into how we can support specific communities who are historically marginalized in STEM. This workshop is limited to 20 participants. We will open a waitlist for registrants beyond 20.

Audience: Out of school educators

Location: University Hotel, 310 SW Lincoln St, Portland, OR, Crater Lake Room

Cost: Free. Up to $400 stipend available for eligible educators.

Time and date: February 9 and 23, 10am-2pm. Lunch is provided.
